our dachshund background

Welcome  to Country Creek Dachshunds, AKC  miniature  dachshunds raised  here.  My  name  is  Lori  Martinson  and  we  are  located  in  Smithville,  Tennessee.  I’m a proud  breeder  of AKC Miniature Dachshunds. Breeding for quality not quantity, temperament, conformation, health and the love of the breed.

My  love  of  dachshunds  started  nearly  50  years  ago  when  i  was  just  a  small  child.  I  grew  up  with  a  smooth  coat  red  miniature  dachshund, her  name  was  Peppy.  She  was  such  a  sweet cuddly 6  pound little  girl;  who  let  me  and  my  little  sister  dress  her up  in  doll  clothes  and  push  her  around  in  a  baby  stroller.

After  almost  raising  5  children,  I  was  down  to  my  last  child  I  had  left  at  home,  my  only  daughter,  Alysia.  That  was  when  i  decided  it  was  time to  start  doing  what  I  had  always  dreamed  of,  raising  these  sweet  little  dachshunds.  We started raising these doxies back in 2014. I knew right from the start this is what I am meant to do. I look forward to getting up every morning. Alysia, was  a  big  help, even as a teenager.  In  fact,  after she graduated high school and had started college she  decided  she  too  wanted  to  raise  them.   So at that  point  she got her own first dachshund and started raising them together  with  me in  the  same  household. Now  she  has  moved  out  and  is  breeding and raising  these  doxies  on  her  own.  My  daughter,  Alysia,  is  Red  Barn  Farms  Minis  and  doing  a  great  job.

All  my  dogs  are  raised  in  my  home  as  part  of  my  family.  In  fact  they  eat  better  than  we  do.  We  feed  our  dogs  a  100%  balanced  RAW  diet.  “See  our  RAW  Feeding  Page“.

If we are to far for you to drive; we do offer a few different transportation options.  One option is your new puppy can fly in cabin with a flight nanny to you; for a reasonable fee at the buyers expense. “See our transportation page“.

Our  puppies  are Vet. checked, dewormed,, Utd on  vaccines, and come  with  a two  year  health guarantee.  So sit back,  relax and take a look at  what  we  have  for  you.;  You just may find your next  furever family member. here  Dachshunds sure  do  leave their paw prints on our hearts forever. They  create  awesome  lifelong  memories; greet  us  at  the  door  when  we  return  home;  pick  us  up  when  we  are  down;  and  offer  us  endless  unconditional love.  These  dogs  mean  the  world  to  me.  I  truly love them all..

Our Dilute Program

One of the main focuses with our breeding program is breeding dilutes free of the genetic disorder CDA (color dilution alopecia). A majority of dilutes, blues & isabellas, are affected by CDA and that genetic defect continues  to be bred in by backyard breeders and puppy mills. We are, however, working on our 3rd generation of dilutes WITHOUT any signs of CDA. We have spent years trying to produce lines free of CDA, and we are making serious progress. We do offer full breeding rights to approved breeders; we need more breeders out there striving to produces the BEST quality and continue to strive for dilutes without CDA.
