Your new puppy is trained to use a puppy litter pan with a pee pad inside. We do not start outdoor potty training until puppies are fully vaccinated (13 week minimum) due to puppies not having a full immunity until fully vaccinated. We use a big washable pad for the entire whelping pen, but momma does a great job training her puppies to us the puppy litter pan. This helps to give them a sense of "where" to pee. It is 100% your choice as to whether you let your puppy outside prior to being fully vaccinated or not. Although we do STRONGLY suggest you NOT allow your puppy onto public grass/concrete/etc. until fully vaccinated as you have no idea what animals have traveled through.
Your new puppy is accustomed to a raw diet, and while we greatly hope you will continue the raw diet, if you choose to transition to a kibble diet then you will need to follow a few steps. We suggest you start off by feeding the 3 days’ worth of raw diet that we provided in your "New Puppy Pack". This way your puppy is adjusting to one new thing at a time. Adjusting to you first then adjusting to a new food. If your puppy is flying and we can’t send the 3 days of food in his or hers New Puppy Packs – we suggest you place an order to have your puppies food there prior to your puppy’s arrival. Here is the link where to read about it & place the order. https://countrycreekdachshunds.com/raw-diet However, if you want to immediately change to kibble that is totally your choice. There is no mixing or weaning of any kind. Although you will have to introduce a small amount at a time to your puppy and watch how your puppy handles it as your puppy has never had kibble of any kind before.
All puppies are used to being in their whelping pens, and we recommend & believe in crate training as well. Dachshunds are mischievous and notorious for getting into things they are not supposed to. Crates are for their protection, and they honestly grow to love their crate.
